Fascia surrounds and protects every tissue, tendon, muscle, bone, ligament and organ of the body. In a healthy condition, it provides cushioning and support, allowing us to move safely without restriction or pain. In an unhealthy state, structures become pulled out of alignment, creating tension on adjacent pain-sensitive structures.
Lymphatic Drainage Techniques restore the body’s ability to eliminate toxins held within tissues, which, when the pathway is blocked, can result in oedema and an unhealthy state of being. All of these techniques can be and are utilised. Detection of stiff, painful areas, determined by the texture and quality of the deeper layers of musculature, slower, firmer pressure is used, enabling movement into the deep layers of muscle. These muscles are usually tight or knotted.
By concentrating on those areas of tension and discomfort, whilst working along muscle fibres, tendons and fascia, we help realign them, together with the use of friction, we can help eliminate scar tissue, breaking down adhesions which promote restoration of normal movement.

“Months of bad posture and hard rowing meant that I was in terrible pain. Kim at Proprius Therapies assessed me and explained that my issue was mainly mechanical and that I had developed a twist in my spine. After deep tissue massage, I was pain free for the first time in 4 months. I have remedial exercises to do at home, my hips are now level, my shoulders even – it has been amazing.
